Backpacking across any country is a wonderful experience. Since we’re young and want to have a good time, you have to party in another country. One of the drawbacks of being a backpacker to a new unfamiliar city is not knowing “where the best club/pub/bar to party at.”
In this section we’re going to go through 3 techniques to finding out the best place to party in the city you’re traveling in.
1. Google it. Researching online for the best club in your city is a hit or miss. Club/Bar websites are not often updated and the testimonials can sometimes be bias. One thing to always look for on a Club website, is how frequently they update there photo gallery, this is a good indication if the club gets a lot of people on a regular bases. Also look for upcoming clubbing events and see if they have a facebook event, you’ll be able to gauge if it’s going to be good or not. Don’t bother on calling the club/bar, they will always say that there place is busiest in order for you to come.
2. Tour Guides/Concierges/Hostel Host. These people know they’re city in and out. They’ll definitely know a place for you to drink or at least have a good time. Ask one of them where the most popular places are to drink or dance. Don’t get a name of a place for one location, get a name and location for several bars/clubs, just in-case the first place you go to is not what you expect. Some tour guides/hostel will recommend a pub-crawl, which is perfect in meeting new people and drinking.
3. Locals know best. Ask a local university student on where the best place to party is. They’ll definitely know more than any google search result. They will also be able to give you first hand experience of Club/Bars in the city. Best place to meet a local university student is go to the first bar/club that the Tour Guides/Concierges/Hostel Host recommend and chitchat with the people there. Hopefuly you meet a local, who’ll give you good advice.
If all else fails, head to the local liquor store buy some alcohol and turn up the Ipod Volume and drink in your hostel, someone will join you eventually.
If you follow the 3 techniques you’ll be able to get a name and location of one party location. Remember party locations can be “awesome” depending on the day of the week.
